HOW IT WORKS

A process that sits somewhere between screen printing and photocopying.
​
Each color is made by creating a stencil (called a master) and wrapping it around an ink drum inside the machine. As the drum spins at high speed, ink is pushed through the stencil and onto the paper, layer by layer, one color at a time.

Risograph printing is an imperfect process, so slight variations in ink coverage, registration, and small marks or smudges are natural and part of its unique character.
our paper is sourced from french paper in niles, michigan
we use Madero Beach from the 1955 Speckletone Collection. 100% recycled paper. a semi-smooth finish with natural flecks and shives that add character and texture to every sheet.

Riso uses translucent soy-based inks that interact with the paper and each other, creating vibrant colors and unique layered effects. Riso ink never completely dries, so handle with care as heavily inked areas may feel a little like newspaper ink.
